April 11 Building Relocation Update
In the coming weeks and months, this forum is an additional way to keep our spiritual community engaged and informed about the status of the sale of our building and the leasing of our new space.
We are in the stage known as “Due Diligence”, through April 20th, where the Buyer is given the opportunity to inspect the building, review maintenance records, and “look under the hood”, so they are aware of what they are purchasing.
Special January Note from Board of Trustees
UOM’s finances consist of income and expenses. Our expenses are all typical – mortgage, utilities, supplies, insurance, and salaries. Our income includes revenue (rent from lessors, building use, classes, etc.) and contributions (donations from you). The rent we collect covers our mortgage. We rely on our contributions/donations to cover the other expenses.
Contributions have dropped significantly and we are running at a deficit that we cannot continue to sustain. We need $15,000 a month, and we average $10,000

Halloween
Taken from a paper by Reverend Ruth Harders and the book, “A Festival of Lost Meanings” by Alvin B. Kuhn.
At one time Halloween was as important as Christmas and Easter. Now we celebrate Christmas as Jesus birthday and Easter as the day He rose from the dead. But, all of these holidays are symbolic celebrations of something that happens to the soul. The Bible itself is a symbolic journey
November: The Causal Power of Gratitude
So. Thanksgiving.
Hallmark moment holiday…family conflict benchmark…dietary purity challenge…mega shopping opportunity…?
But no! We can flip the moneychanger’s tables right out of the temple to transform Thanksgiving as usual through a mindful practice of Gratitude. We can choose to bring the Power of Gratitude as a spiritual Principle to this year’s table…in homes, communities, our country…and on our planet.
Poet Annie Dillard comments on Christianity’s practical ignorance of the divinity

We are actively seeking those interested in volunteering as Sunday greeters (for both in-person and on-line), grounds beautification, someone to change slides for song lyrics and hospitality. Looking For Those Who Love To Greet People
What makes Unity of Melbourne so special? We think it’s “…how special and welcome visitors feel when they show up.”
It’s time to return to that sense of welcoming everyone who comes through our doors or visits us virtually.
Would you volunteer to sign-up to be a lobby greeter AND a digital greeter, serving one Sunday a month?
The Digital Greeter can volunteer from home or at the church, while the Lobby Greeter would need to be at
Membership Team
Your Board is listening—and responding. Several of our congregants have told us that Unity of Melbourne’s membership process is confusing. We agree, and we are going to do something about it – with your help. Please join co-team leaders Janeen Chiscon and Beth Lambdin to help design and deliver a membership process that is easy to understand and valued by our congregants. While we want everyone’s input, we are especially interested in hearing
