Status On The Sale Of Our Current Building

Thank you for your continued interest on the status of the sale of our building and the leasing of our new space.

We were asked by the contracted Buyer for our building to extend the “Due Diligence” period an additional 30 days until May 20th, allowing them to perform additional environmental assessments and survey’s. Upon advice of our attorney, the Board agreed to the extension with a stipulation to close on the sale of the property on May 30th. All parties agreed and the documents signed.

Changing the closing date from May 12th to May 30th gives us some extended access to the current building, though we will need to vacate by August 29th.

Our New Location

As previously mentioned, we have signed a Letter of Intent to lease a new space that is an existing church and needs very little to accommodate our ministry. Once we close the sale of building (on May 30th), we will be signing a 5-year lease on this property.

Once we have signed a lease, we will coordinate with the current tenant times we will be able to tour what will be our new space (once the current tenant vacates, probably by June 30th).

There will be some cosmetic (paint) and other minor changes to turn this into our sacred space. I have met with an architectural firm to review these changes and working with a general contractor.

Long-time member Vashti Saint Germain has been tirelessly working on the interior designer in the creation of a beautiful sacred space, as she brings a wealth of professional and personal skills and talents to this endeavor – making the space welcoming where all are welcome.

How You Can Help

I appreciate those who have already volunteered to help inventory our furnishings, scan and digitize sheet music and turn hard paper copies into digital files. There remain several opportunities to help during this stage of preparation for our move. If you’d like to help, contact Randy, randy@unityofmelbourne.com for more information.

Valerie Holloway and our Board leadership will continue to update the congregation from the platform on Sundays, and we’ll use this forum to aid in keeping our spiritual community informed and engaged as we embark on this new journey into the future of Unity of Melbourne.
