“We made it!” We’ve moved in and held our first worship service last Sunday (Oct 15th).
In Genesis, we learn that God created the heavens and earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th.
For us, we were able to move (not quite heaven and earth, but some of our backs and legs seemed to think so) in 5 days and worked diligently to prepare for that first service on the 7th day from the last service at 2401 N Harbor City Blvd.
Vashti Saint Germain and her team (Fred, Debra, and Barbara) worked to create a wonderful sacred Sanctuary, Cheryl Lindner packed and unpacked the Youth & Family Ministries warehouse. Kevin and Ron Cobb worked hard to ensure we had the audio set up for the first service, while I spearheaded (and schlepped) the team from Labor Finders in relocating everything that was needed to be moved into the new space.
Aside from some technical incompatibilities (unable to display slides on the stage, that require additional components removed by the previous tenant), it seemed everyone was ecstatic with our new home.
There will remain some growing opportunities (finding storage places for what we brought over, and the aforementioned different technology to display song lyrics and announcements on the stage), and as time goes on, we will settle in to our new space and will no longer use the word “new” to describe our (new) home. It’s home.
Welcome home.
