I was raised Catholic in a small town in Southwest Ohio. Ever since college I stopped ‘practicing’ Catholicism because I was beginning to realize more of what I perceived to be judgement and hypocrisy in much of the teaching.
I moved to Melbourne for an engineering job in 1996 and continued to work as an engineer through 2011 but still wasn’t feeling fulfilled. I hadn’t thought I needed a church to experience spirituality. I enjoyed exploring new ideas and thoughts through books by Deepak Chopra, Don Miguel Ruiz and other New Thought leaders. As the Universe would have it, I eventually stumbled into Unity of Melbourne as I was looking at making other changes in my life and I was pleasantly surprised to find a spiritual community that shared the same open-minded New Thought ideas that I had. I started attending Unity on a regular basis and since then have left the engineering / corporate world to open my own practice as a hypnotherapist. To me, I now feel that what I do for a living falls in alignment with what I believe and how I want to serve others. I now have big dreams for my professional future as well as the future of my spiritual home, Unity of Melbourne. I’m pleased and grateful to serve on the Board of Trustees during this amazing time of growth and change for us!

I was born in Schenectady, NY and graduated from Scotia-Glenville HS in 1985. I enlisted in the US Air Force that same year and served for 24 years. I served in Operations DESERT STORM Saudi Arabia, RESTORE HOPE Uganda, ENDURING FREEDOM Saudi Arabia, and IRAQI FREEDOM Baghdad, Iraq. It took me 20 years, but I finally finished my degree taking all night and online classes. I hold a Masters Degree in Information Systems Technology.
I came to Unity about a year and a half ago after reading many books and sitting in a therapy session with a counselor who told me he knew exactly where I needed to be. I was withdrawn and alone at first, but Unity welcomed me and I knew I was in the right place. I have been taking classes and am now on the Leadership Team. I also lead the Outreach efforts for Unity. I am proud to be a member of Unity’s Board of Trustees.

My wife (Gelia) and I moved to the Melbourne area from Michigan. We attended a Unity church in Livonia Michigan. I have been associated with Unity since 1984 when I met my wife who introduced me to Unity. I had been raised in the Catholic religion and then moved on to the Baptist religion in 1972. I really connected to the Unity beliefs when I started taking classes, listening to speakers and Rev. Beth in her talks and Sunday lessons. I am retired from the University of Michigan, where I worked as a pipe-fitter/plumber for 28 years. I currently have a part-time job with Home Depot. I am also a youth Sunday School teacher and I help take care of the grounds area and any other thing that needs fixing at the church. The knowledge of the Spirit is a wonderful experience and has helped me tremendously in my walk of Life.
